Friday foolishness and 100 followers!

Well, another week down, folks. If you are like most people I know, it was a long one. I want to welcome my new Animals to the Zodiac Zoo Crew. You all helped me get over 100, and I'm so excited about that. Thank you! You are in a pretty awesome group here, and I'm tickled to have you.

For those of you who have been paying attention, I finally got my grades for the term I just finished in school. That slack professor actually gave me a 100 on my final research paper! Apparently, he gets to live to see another day. That's a good thing because I'm not sure they would let me blog from prison. Oh hell! I couldn't live without blogging now. You peeps have me hooked, I tell ya.

From reading his comments, I think it was because I happened to pick a topic that is important to him professionally. So go, Krissy! We all have to pat ourselves on the back every now and then. I get the joy of having him again next term, so if I can manage to finish with my 4.0 GPA still in tact after these last three classes it will be major party time! I cannot wait to graduate.

We are supposed to be going to the Zoo tomorrow for family day through my company. Unfortunately, there is a 70% chance of rain. Wouldn't that be fun? I would be freaking the hell out about my new camera getting wet. I guess we'll find out what they can do for us if it does get rained out since tickets are already printed and paid for. It would actually work better for me to not go tomorrow since I have old friends coming in from out of town tomorrow night. I could spend tomorrow cleaning instead of tonight. Friday night is supposed to be for cocktails and sitting on my ass reading blogs, dammit! How pitiful is that? One of these years I'll get a life once someone shows me how to do that again. Being with D this weekend is going to remind me of what a life is actually like again, since I'm sure there will be a lot of old memories brought up.

We used to be party animals. There were three of us who went through divorces around the same time, so we hit the bars pretty much every night after work. What night it was determined where we went. I really don't know how we did it, especially with the little bit of money we were all making back then. But we had a great time wherever we went, believe me. Of course, my ex-husband told everyone I was screwing the whole Air Force base, but who cares what the hell he thought? I wasn't screwing the whole base, by the way. But we had our share of fun with some GI's and they partied with us a lot. In fact, one night we met the Thunderbird pilots at the bar, and when they found out it was my birthday there was a steady stream of drinks sent to me for the rest of the night. I'll admit, I was a little worried about the air show the next day with as much as those boys put down, but they were very considerate of the clock and when it was time to get back to the base.

Ahhhh, the good old days. Man, I feel old! When the hell did that happen? Although, I feel pretty damn young when compared to the 114 year old man who just passed away. Can you freaking imagine? There are not many people still around who were born in the 1800's. Just think of all of the things he has seen in his life.

Hey, maybe I'll use pictures of the Zoo animals to represent some of you Animals! That would be fun. I can think of a few examples that would fit some of you right off the top of my head. Ohhh, the ideas that are starting to form now. Look out, folks. I'm burning up some brain cells over here.

By the way, there is this new button over to the left that lets you enter your email address if you want this blog sent straight to you when posts are put up. Feel free to use it so you don't miss what's happening around these parts. I know you are dying to keep up with me and my exciting life. At least you know you'll get some cute animal pictures on occasion if nothing else. Hopefully, I can catch up on some of your blogs while I have a little break from school. I love reading what you guys write so much that I hate missing your posts.

Anyway, have a great weekend, everyone! I am homework free this weekend, and rain or shine there will be cocktails in my not too distant future. I'll have one (or 10) to toast you all.

You didn't just say that on TV!

Now, I know I have mentioned that we always get the dumbest people on television to represent our state. Luckily, this didn't make national news, but of course, I'm going to share it with you. Because I really don't think I could give you all a worse impression of how the hicks in our state are compared to what you already think of them.

Not too long ago there was a bad wreck in Columbia, SC. I was watching the news and they were talking about how they had to reroute traffic around this fast food restaurant. The reporter was talking to an eyewitness who said the truck came barreling around the drive-through and flew into oncoming traffic. You could tell from the expression on the reporter's face that he hadn't had any prep time with this woman, and he was a little hesitant about even talking to her. If you had seen her, you'd know what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, I can't even find a picture that does her justice.

So the witness goes on to tell us what she saw. She was very antsy throughout the whole thing, and she kept glancing over her shoulder looking at the scene where all the cops were gathered around. Then the reporter asks her, "So, what went through your mind when you saw all of this? Were you scared?"

The witness responded, "I don't know, man. I was stoned at the time." Wait, what now?

Yes, you read that right. She was STONED at the time and just admitted so on television. The reporter looked like a deer in headlights for the flash of a second, and then he smartly sent the feed back into the studio. I know he wanted to kill someone, and he couldn't get away from her fast enough. I wonder how long it took for her to be arrested?

In other wonderful news, remember the professor I've been fussing about? Well, if you've missed it, I've had this one professor who has been nit-picking me to death and has pretty much been no help. I get the pleasure of having again next term! Isn't that fantastic? The school loved his work with me so much that they wanted to give him another shot at ruining my 4.0 GPA in my LAST term of school. Yay! By the way, he still hasn't finished grading my work from this last course, so the school is showing my status as incomplete at the moment. You gotta love that, right? I'm so excited I can hardly keep from beating my head into a wall.

Finally, a friend of mine who I haven't seen in 14 years is coming to visit this weekend! I can't wait to see her and meet her significant other who she's been living with for quite some time now. I've talked to him on the phone before, so he thinks he knows me. Wait until he gets a taste of me and D in the same room together. I'm taking Monday off because she says she's getting here Saturday night, but they still don't know for sure how long they are staying. Now THIS news I AM excited about if you didn't catch my sarcasm earlier.

And on a final note, just because I thought it was a cute cartoon...

I tried to get a life.. Honestly!

Source
Friday night I was bored out of my mind for some reason. Normally I'm fine with my solitary existence, even though my pitifulness is sad for you viewers at times. (Hey, did you know spell check thinks pitifulness is okay? Who knew?! Why hasn't it figured out "ginormous" is a word yet?) Anyway, I texted several people to see what they were up to. (Texted isn't a word yet either, by the way.) Apparently, they were all having too much freaking fun to answer me. Rude, right? I mean, I'm trying to get a life here, people!

Eventually a friend of mine answered and said she was at her nephew's birthday party so I should come out to her sister's place at the river to have a few cocktails with the adults and enjoy the view. I told her I had to change, and she fussed that no one was dressed up. Ummm, I think you want me to at least put a bra on, ya nut! I'm considerate that way.

She ended up meeting me at the store because she figured I would have trouble finding it. Good thing she did because as she took me off the paved road and down this scary path, I'm sure I would have chickened out and gone home had I been taking this journey alone. I mean, talk about being right in the middle of town and feeling like you stepped into the movie Deliverance! I am going to have to take pictures of it for you next time. I was a bit worried about my safety on the first trip.
Source - South Park had George Lucas and Steven Spielberg  make Indy "squeal like a pig." Is nothing sacred to those freaks? NOT what I expected when I did a search for that phrase, although I never expected to search for that phrase!
Of course, I had enough cocktails later on in the night to tell the wonderful host of this party that I felt like I was stepping into said movie as I drove up. I felt bad. Kinda. I mean, I DID really feel that way as I was driving down the path. And yes, I'm calling it a path because it sure didn't look like much of a road! But they were nice enough to invite me to their home.. I'm glad she laughed about it. I was worried. For a second.

We had a pretty good time though. The moon was so full that you could pretty much see the whole river. Well, our piece of it anyway. You know what I meant!

Their house was absolutely beautiful, and I decided that I hate them. My bedroom could fit inside their walk-in closet for God's sake! But I've been invited back for a huge 4th of July thing they do down there every year. So I must not have been too bad of a guest. Unless they regretted it the next day. They are just stuck with me now, suckers!

My first award!

I got my first award the other day from my fairly new blogging friend Bruce over at brucejohnson JADIP! He's actually got two blogs so go check him out. He's a Wings fan, but I forgive him for that most times since he's pretty real about hockey and definitely real about life. And he's an animal lover like me, which always makes for a good person.
I was so excited about getting the award that I almost fell out of my chair. Now granted I am not near my 101st post yet, but I think it's just been passed on and I will love it and cherish it as my first. Thanks, Bruce!

So I guess I need to pay this forward. Here are the ones I think you should check out who have been so great to be some of my first followers outside of my ring of friends.

Joyce over at Hapless Tigger is a good friend of mine that I found on Facebook. She is great and definitely broadens my horizons with her posts. When I first started doing my blog, she was the first to get me excited about it. Love her to pieces so go check her out.

Tress at Jumble Mash definitely has to have this since she was my very first follower who I didn't know anything about. She is so sweet and always takes the time out to comment on posts, especially when I feel like I am talking to myself at times.

Mynx over at Dribble is my kindred spirit. Even though we live worlds apart she makes me feel like she is in this crazy world with me.

So there are my shout-outs for now. I already have the name for the award I'm going to create. I just need to come up with the design, so stay tuned. Some of you will be getting this award (who am I kidding, probably all of you at some point since I love you all!), and it's going to be stupendous!

I've had a few people pop their heads in recently to check out my blog, but most of them aren't following me yet that I can tell. I hope I can entertain you enough to stick around! I truly do appreciate all of your thoughts and comments. TGIF, everyone!
