Monday Madness

Hello, strangers! How the hell are ya? I swear, I feel like I have been away FOREVER! I never meant for it to be so long, but I think you'll understand a bit when you hear all of the crazy things that have been going on in my life. This post will probably be all over the place, but I have so much to tell you. First of all....
Source
I really and truly did miss you all! My Reader is overflowing with things that I have missed, and I hope to get caught up on all the happenings in your lives as soon as I can. I can't wait! I love having plenty of reading material, and you all always keep my supply up.

Next, I finally finished school!
Source
I am officially a graduate with a BS in Occupational Safety & Health as of June 30th. How about them apples?! And even better, I managed to finish with a 4.0 GPA so I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I know that probably means nothing to anyone but me, but I'm glad I managed to do it!
Source
You would not believe how much of a weight is off of my shoulders with school done. I did absolutely NOTHING last weekend just because I could! It was so funny, but I kept thinking, "What time is my next assignment due?" Then I'd do this evil laugh and remember that I never have to turn in another thing. I think my mom was a little surprised that I actually finished. When I called them the night I turned in my final assignments, I asked her, "You didn't think I'd ever really finish, did you?" Her answer was a very honest, "Nope!" Gotta love Mom.

The new family member we got during my last post has moved on to a wonderful family that has two kids who are spoiling her rotten! They fell in love with her so much that I couldn't resist letting them have Sadie, and she's enjoying the hell out of them. Here she is in her new home the first night there with a brand new fancy collar and bed after they wore her out.
It was meant to be, I think. I'm just glad we managed to save another one from the shelter and the fate that happens to so many there. She's a great dog and she has completed their family.

I have a lot to tell you about what has happened with our shelter too, but I'll save that for another day. For now, I have a ton of reading to catch up on and I need to decide what my long-term career goals are. That's the biggest problem because I'm meeting some obstacles at work so we'll see what I end up doing moving forward. Updating the resume is step one though, whether I move around in the same company or move on. Geez, it's been FOREVER since I did a resume.

Hope you all have a great week! I'm so glad to be back, and I'll be keeping up much better now that I have less responsibilities on a regular basis. Oh, and I don't think I pointed out that little box on the left over there before. You can get my posts right in your email box now! Just put in your email address and it's magic, right in your email whenever I post. You know ya wanna... So go do it. Now I am off to read some awesome blogs and get some lunch since my stomach is currently gnawing on my backbone.

Friday foolishness and 100 followers!

Well, another week down, folks. If you are like most people I know, it was a long one. I want to welcome my new Animals to the Zodiac Zoo Crew. You all helped me get over 100, and I'm so excited about that. Thank you! You are in a pretty awesome group here, and I'm tickled to have you.

For those of you who have been paying attention, I finally got my grades for the term I just finished in school. That slack professor actually gave me a 100 on my final research paper! Apparently, he gets to live to see another day. That's a good thing because I'm not sure they would let me blog from prison. Oh hell! I couldn't live without blogging now. You peeps have me hooked, I tell ya.

From reading his comments, I think it was because I happened to pick a topic that is important to him professionally. So go, Krissy! We all have to pat ourselves on the back every now and then. I get the joy of having him again next term, so if I can manage to finish with my 4.0 GPA still in tact after these last three classes it will be major party time! I cannot wait to graduate.
Source
We are supposed to be going to the Zoo tomorrow for family day through my company. Unfortunately, there is a 70% chance of rain. Wouldn't that be fun? I would be freaking the hell out about my new camera getting wet. I guess we'll find out what they can do for us if it does get rained out since tickets are already printed and paid for. It would actually work better for me to not go tomorrow since I have old friends coming in from out of town tomorrow night. I could spend tomorrow cleaning instead of tonight. Friday night is supposed to be for cocktails and sitting on my ass reading blogs, dammit! How pitiful is that? One of these years I'll get a life once someone shows me how to do that again. Being with D this weekend is going to remind me of what a life is actually like again, since I'm sure there will be a lot of old memories brought up.

We used to be party animals. There were three of us who went through divorces around the same time, so we hit the bars pretty much every night after work. What night it was determined where we went. I really don't know how we did it, especially with the little bit of money we were all making back then. But we had a great time wherever we went, believe me. Of course, my ex-husband told everyone I was screwing the whole Air Force base, but who cares what the hell he thought? I wasn't screwing the whole base, by the way. But we had our share of fun with some GI's and they partied with us a lot. In fact, one night we met the Thunderbird pilots at the bar, and when they found out it was my birthday there was a steady stream of drinks sent to me for the rest of the night. I'll admit, I was a little worried about the air show the next day with as much as those boys put down, but they were very considerate of the clock and when it was time to get back to the base.

Ahhhh, the good old days. Man, I feel old! When the hell did that happen? Although, I feel pretty damn young when compared to the 114 year old man who just passed away. Can you freaking imagine? There are not many people still around who were born in the 1800's. Just think of all of the things he has seen in his life.
Source
Hey, maybe I'll use pictures of the Zoo animals to represent some of you Animals! That would be fun. I can think of a few examples that would fit some of you right off the top of my head. Ohhh, the ideas that are starting to form now. Look out, folks. I'm burning up some brain cells over here.

By the way, there is this new button over to the left that lets you enter your email address if you want this blog sent straight to you when posts are put up. Feel free to use it so you don't miss what's happening around these parts. I know you are dying to keep up with me and my exciting life. At least you know you'll get some cute animal pictures on occasion if nothing else. Hopefully, I can catch up on some of your blogs while I have a little break from school. I love reading what you guys write so much that I hate missing your posts.

Anyway, have a great weekend, everyone! I am homework free this weekend, and rain or shine there will be cocktails in my not too distant future. I'll have one (or 10) to toast you all.

You didn't just say that on TV!

Now, I know I have mentioned that we always get the dumbest people on television to represent our state. Luckily, this didn't make national news, but of course, I'm going to share it with you. Because I really don't think I could give you all a worse impression of how the hicks in our state are compared to what you already think of them.

Not too long ago there was a bad wreck in Columbia, SC. I was watching the news and they were talking about how they had to reroute traffic around this fast food restaurant. The reporter was talking to an eyewitness who said the truck came barreling around the drive-through and flew into oncoming traffic. You could tell from the expression on the reporter's face that he hadn't had any prep time with this woman, and he was a little hesitant about even talking to her. If you had seen her, you'd know what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, I can't even find a picture that does her justice.

So the witness goes on to tell us what she saw. She was very antsy throughout the whole thing, and she kept glancing over her shoulder looking at the scene where all the cops were gathered around. Then the reporter asks her, "So, what went through your mind when you saw all of this? Were you scared?"

The witness responded, "I don't know, man. I was stoned at the time." Wait, what now?
Source
Yes, you read that right. She was STONED at the time and just admitted so on television. The reporter looked like a deer in headlights for the flash of a second, and then he smartly sent the feed back into the studio. I know he wanted to kill someone, and he couldn't get away from her fast enough. I wonder how long it took for her to be arrested?

In other wonderful news, remember the professor I've been fussing about? Well, if you've missed it, I've had this one professor who has been nit-picking me to death and has pretty much been no help. I get the pleasure of having again next term! Isn't that fantastic? The school loved his work with me so much that they wanted to give him another shot at ruining my 4.0 GPA in my LAST term of school. Yay! By the way, he still hasn't finished grading my work from this last course, so the school is showing my status as incomplete at the moment. You gotta love that, right? I'm so excited I can hardly keep from beating my head into a wall.
Source
Finally, a friend of mine who I haven't seen in 14 years is coming to visit this weekend! I can't wait to see her and meet her significant other who she's been living with for quite some time now. I've talked to him on the phone before, so he thinks he knows me. Wait until he gets a taste of me and D in the same room together. I'm taking Monday off because she says she's getting here Saturday night, but they still don't know for sure how long they are staying. Now THIS news I AM excited about if you didn't catch my sarcasm earlier.

And on a final note, just because I thought it was a cute cartoon...

Some Linkage and Giveaways!

Okay, now that I wasted so much time trying to do something simple like set up a Facebook account, I think I got it done finally! Geez, Facebook was being testy about verifying my email address. It's hard enough to keep my personal, work, and blog emails straight without them messing with me about it! Anyway, you can go here to follow me there now.

If you aren't following me on Twitter, you should! I've been having some fun conversations over there lately with Canadian Blogger Girl, Amber, and Simple Dude. Well, it's mostly been us picking on him, but it's been fun anyway! So click on this to follow me so you don't miss out!
Speaking of CBG, she is having a giveaway on her blog, and she's got a bunch of exciting things going on over there. Go check her out and today you can even read a guest post by the crazy Simple Dude, too.

I've heard some blogging friends getting frustrated with losing followers lately. I have been lucky and haven't had that problem (and please tell me I didn't just jinx myself!), but I was wondering. What makes you leave someone you're following? Do they say things that offend you? I mean Average Girl had a FANTASTIC idea that involved a battle of the sexes on posts and she lost followers for it. What the ...? I didn't think any of my followers were that sensitive, but I could be wrong. Honestly, the only ones I think I've ever left are ones that I started following when I first got onto Blogger, and they just didn't interest me anymore. Seriously, you all aren't picky people, right? If so, I'm sure I'll offend you at some point. This is my stress free zone!

I finished up my classes last night. Yay! Unfortunately, I only get one week off before I have to start three more though. Geez, is it June yet? I am sooooo ready to be done with school. Now, if my slow ass professors will post my grades, I will be a bit happier.

Oh, Studio30Plus is having a giveaway for reaching 500 members, too. So click on my button over there, join us, and go sign up for the giveaway! It's a great little community that's coming together nicely.

Tomorrow, Bailey and I have a little surprise for ya. I think you'll all enjoy it, and we got a little help from Bruce and Tuck.

Final thought.. I think the Frito Lay guy who put these signs up in a store near me knew the Super Bowl was going to be shitty. What do you think?
Honestly, it was a good game. It was just not a good outcome for me and those who love me. *sigh*

Give me an 84, and I'll raise you 1300

I have been super busy trying to get my 3 classes for this term done. I hope to finish up next week so I can enjoy Super Bowl weekend without any of that on my mind. Sorry I haven't been around much, but I've discovered by being away just how much you guys light up my days. I need this escape and the peak into your worlds to forget about mine for a while.

Just to tell you a little about my week, I am super pissed at one of my professors. He waited 3 weeks to grade my mid-term paper, and then gives me a damn 84! Wait... Did you hear me? An 84, I said!! Now, since I've been back in school I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. Needless to say, this is the lowest grade I have gotten in any class, and I just suffered through Toxicology for God's sake without getting an 84.

I seriously think this professor is on crack. He docks points for things that no other professor has. Sometimes he gives no explanation at all, and when he does explain his reasoning it's usually something lame. On a side note, if I don't finish the course with an "A" then I don't get 100% reimbursement from my company. I would seriously have to kill the professor if that happened. It's a good thing he doesn't live near me. And now I'm thinking I really need to do that Google remove-my-real-name-from-searches-thing that Stephanie and Sam told me I could do somehow. It would totally be my luck for my professor to find this post before the final grade went in.

Anyway, if you hadn't noticed I'm a thrives-on-immediate-feedback kinda gal, so his waiting that long to get back to me in the first place was enough to take. Then the grade whammy sure didn't make it any easier. Somehow I'll make it through like I always do, but I sure need to finish this class to get me away from this joker. Lord, PLEASE do not let him be teaching any of the classes I have left! I don't think I could take it.

To make myself feel better, I went on the Sears website yesterday to look at my dream washer and dryer again. For those who haven't been around since I mentioned it before, I want one of those new steam sets. (They say the dryer works as fast as the washer.) They were having a one day online only sale, and I got the set $500 cheaper than regular price! Soothing my pain apparently costs $1300 (after tax and stuff), but that's better than the $1800 it would normally be.

As you know from prior posts, I really don't care for laundry, but I figure I'll look about as stupidly happy as this lady for about the first month.
Source
They won't be delivered until the 15th so my impatient self will just have to wait. I might just have to go buy the new furniture I've been wanting, too.

Now, I must get back to less enjoyable things, but I wanted to mention that two people think I'm funny enough to have given me an award. The thought just floors me, but I'm so excited! I'll fill you in on that later because I didn't want my first post of the week to be, "Hey, sorry I haven't been around but someone thinks I rock anyway!" Holy crap! I can't believe it's Thursday and this is my first post of the week. I'm beginning to think I don't rock so much as I suck this week. Now let me go try to catch up on what you all have been doing.

Crazy Housewife of Beverly Hills

I feel like I have been neglecting my blogging friends this week. I have two papers that were due the other day that I luckily got an extension on, but I wanted to write you guys a little something. I am trying to catch up on your blogs when I can, so please don't think I'm ignoring you if you haven't seen me comment much. I keep telling myself I only have until the end of June and then I can be done with school forever! For any young people who are thinking of not finishing now, DON'T DO IT! Just get it over with, and then you can live your life. I was one class shy of my degree when I stopped going when I was young. Yes, I know! I've heard it from my family and friends my whole life, but now I should be done by June. The only thing is right now I have a 4.0 GPA, and I was in the mid 3 range back then. Maybe I'll do a "why I never finished then" post when I'm done... or maybe before then.

Anyway, I have never watched those Real Housewives shows until a few months ago. I was bored and saw the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on my Primetime on Demand channel so I decided to watch an episode to see what it was like. Now I watch this show, and I think Camille is one of the craziest people I have ever seen. I mean, come on! Have any of you watched this show? When she said that Kyle told her no one wanted to be around her without Kelsey, that was just BIZARRE! (For those who don't know, Camille is Kelsey Grammer's soon to be ex-wife.) They play a clip of her saying at the beginning of every episode that it's time for her to step out of her husband's shadow to shine. So... HELLOOOOO! That is in YOUR head, not Kyle's.
Source

From left to right in that picture are Kim, Lisa, Adrienne, Kyle, Taylor, and Camille. Camille is bat-shit crazy as far as I can tell. She talks about what a sweet person she is, but when does she show us that side? She acts like if she talks in a soft, calm voice then it doesn't matter what she says. What the.. ??

And get this... You know the show Medium? Camille and Kelsey apparently created that show based on their real friend, Allison DuBois. She was on the show, got drunk, and said some things I would never say even about people I can't stand.
Source
Personally, I'll never watch her show again simply because of the way she acted, but anyway... This is supposed to be a really good friend of Camille's. They talk about how she can get into people's heads and tell if their husbands are cheating, etc. Explain to me why she never told Camille (who should have had 100 clues beforehand) that Kelsey was cheating on her? What the hell good is there to have a psychic (or sidekick as Lisa called her) or medium as a good friend if she can't save you some pain by telling you something like that?

Anyway, there is my guilty pleasure rant for the day for your amusement. If you don't watch the show, you should. Tonight I think is when they reveal the episode where Kelsey tells her he's done with their marriage. Give me your thoughts if you watch the show, or even if you don't. Personally, I love Kyle. She's my kinda people, and I love that she doesn't take any crap. Next in line, I really like Lisa and Adrienne.

Back to school work, I guess. (In my best whiny voice possible...) Do I really have to??

Post-It Note Tuesday

Still REALLY thrilled with all of the new followers pouring in. Thanks so much to my guest bloggers for bringing them in! Glad to have you all, and I hope I help make up your mind to stick around for a long time to come. I will be premiering a new award very soon. For now, on to the Post-its.

If you would like to make some post-its of your own, go to this site. I think there's a widget to share them with others too, but I haven't looked at that.

Busy-ness

I have been so busy lately that I forgot all about this blog. I have been working and going to school like before, but I am also on the board for our pitiful animal shelter now. Apparently, I am the VP until we have an official vote in February. That could change though since I thought I was the Secretary last week.

We have gotten some good people involved since I signed up, including the Mayor of our little town. I am excited about the prospects even though some who were involved before are afraid we will get frustrated and leave. I have told them I am not going anywhere. I am determined to help some animals find forever homes and hopefully get a better facility built.

Of course, I have always loved animals. Since I had that age crisis earlier this year and wondered what my mark on this world is, working with the shelter has made me feel much better. I want to rescue them all, but I am happy to do what I can. I set up the Facebook page for the shelter, and I try to keep it up to date. I also got us signed up for Petfinder so that is going to help out a lot with other doors that can open. We also got a great opportunity with Rachel Ray's charity, but I will fill you in on that another time. We did a skeet shooting event this past weekend to benefit the animals. We made some pretty good money, and I met some new people who were a lot of fun. I think we did good for our first event.

I am still in school too, and I just finished the hardest class I have had so far, Toxicology. OMG, that class was head-exploding hard so I definitely earned my A in that course. I have decided to take 3 classes each term so I can hopefully finish in April. I will be so glad to get my degree! Next term starts December 1st so we will see how taking 3 classes is going to work out.

Honestly, as busy as I have been I am enjoying it for the most part. I feel like I have a purpose and I am on a mission or two! Or five.... Anyway! I think I need to keep up the blog a bit better. I will try to do it on my phone if nothing else.(Although after posting this one, I see I need to come on the computer to edit it after posting through my phone. It showed just one continuous paragraph on here, when I put returns in on the phone. *sigh*)
