I'm a North Carolinian! Wait.. what???

Hello, strangers! Yes, you read that right. I am now a North Carolinian. For those who don't know me (or who don't remember since it's been so long!), I was in South Carolina when we last met here. My life has changed a lot since then.

First of all, shortly before I became a total blogging slacker and stopped posting, I got my degree. Well, our company was also purchased by an international company which ended up working out well for me. I got a promotion and moved to Greenville, North Carolina.

I have to say, it was a big change as I didn't know a soul in this town before packing up me and Bailey... Remember her? She's the pretty, furry girl you see all over my blog. Anyway, after almost 6 weeks of living in a hotel, I closed on this little gem...
We now have a home all our own with no crappy landlords to answer to anymore! (My former landlord didn't give me a cent of my deposit back, by the way... Shocker! And I busted my tail cleaning that place from top to bottom.... BUT.. Moving on... ) We have a new town, a new job, a new home in a new state, and a new life. It's quite a bit of newness, huh? Well, we are loving every minute of it! I'm sure you'll be sick of hearing all about it over the next few weeks while I catch you up.Unfortunately, most of the pictures I have are of the house before I moved into it, but I'll fix that soon. I have just been reluctant to take pictures of the place so far because I don't have it the way I want it yet.

For instance, let me demonstrate some of the wonderful things the former morons owners had done with the place....
There are many things wrong with this photo, some of which you can't even see. Now this ginormous hole over the fireplace is meant to house your TV. The people who used to live here had a TV much bigger than the one you see pictured, and it was in the bedroom. Why, you may ask? Because the HOLE was built for a tube-sized TV, and the house was only built SIX years ago! So, his biggest TV didn't fit in the hole, just as mine doesn't.

My father came up with the brilliant thought of, "Just buy a smaller TV." Yeah right, Pop! Like he has EVER done that in his lifetime, and neither will I. After many talks with several contractors, I have given up on the "HOLE" to house my TV. You'll see how I have it set up when I take updated photos. I have gotten together with a lady at the pottery down the road to make me a magnificent flower arrangement to fill "the HOLE." I can't wait to see it on Tuesday... And it better be just that... Magnificent!

Let me also bring your attention to the fact that this "HOLE" is over a fireplace in the photo. Can you see the fireplace??? Of course you can't! Because the morons former owners put their sound system in front of it! Yes, we even had to make it a condition of closing that he have the fireplace tested to make sure it works (it's a gas fireplace) because the home inspector couldn't get to it.

After much drama, I managed to close on the house while still paying to air condition the entire neighborhood.... in August... in North Carolina... while they took their sweet ass time moving out of my new home with the doors wide open for two days! Bailey is now loving her new yard which has a wonderful fence (which she's never had before) so she can't escape can run and play freely while I enjoy my beautiful deck and the occasional cocktail or 2... or 3... or... What the hell?! It's MY house! :-)

This is kind of my view....
Though the grass is better now... That pitiful plant is gone.. And that was the moron's former owner's grill. I would show you the other side of the yard, but it had a horrific swing set in the photos that is no longer here. Yes, the brain child didn't think he needed to remove that. Who was going to use it? Bailey??? The guy I hired to mow my lawn the first time got that as a punishment bonus for his hard work! That was before I got a lawn mower. Hey, cut me some slack. Do you know how long it had been since I mowed the lawn???

Stay tuned to hear some funny tails of my new home and how we are coping. By the way, anyone know how to get a video off your phone to post it here? I have a HILARIOUS one of Bailey playing with her new best friends... the frogs!

I hope to catch up with all of those who were nice enough to stick around after all this time and those I haven't met yet. I'll get back in the swing of this things before you know it! In the mean time... Cheers, my Zodiac Zoo Crew! I've missed you all!

Back to the drawing... tablet?

What do you all use to post with? Just your desktop and/or laptop? I bought a Kindle Fire hoping I could read blogs and comment through there, but I haven't been able to find a decent app to use to post with. I know I have one on my iPhone, and I ordered an iPad 3 so I can use it on there.. Once the damn thing finally gets to me.

Soooo I was just curious, what do you all use? Have you found good apps for both reading blogs and writing on your own?

Source
Speaking of apps that don't help me, have you all tried the Draw Something app? It's basically Pictionary. My niece told me to download it. She was all excited because she wanted me to play and she's addicted to it. I mean, for those who have been around here for a while, you know I can't freakin' draw! And I'm supposed to do this on an iPhone with my finger no less. Okay...

Needless to say, I downloaded it... Tried to do about 3 or 4 different things... And deleted the app. Maybe I can fake my way through the game on an iPad.. with a stylus? I doubt it...*sigh*

So what games have made you feel incompetent or that they are smarter than you? And don't forget to tell me how you roll with your blog.. Tablet? Apps? I figure the simplest thing is going to help me get back to blogging on a regular basis.

Friday Foolishness - 2/3/12 edition

For those who are new around here, on Fridays I like to do Friday Foolishness. It's basically a post for me to mention some crazy random thoughts I've had over the course of the week... Or in this case, several weeks since I haven't done this kind of post in a while. In case you missed it, I gave you a taste of the type of thing that's involved last night when a guy at McDonald's really got under my skin. It's a quick read so check it out here...  Go on and I'll wait for ya. I have to mix up some cocktails for this evening anyway.

Speaking of cocktails, my frickin' ice maker is possessed. Possessed, I tell ya! Some days it works just fine. Then it will give up on life for a couple of days like it forgot what it was supposed to be doing. You're a frickin' ICE MAKER! You only have ONE job. You would think you'd have it perfected. How am I supposed to make these.... ?

Without these....??

Call me crazy, but I can't stand a warm drink! Even wine.. It has to be well chilled for me. I almost had to kill the fridge last week when it stopped working on Friday. Seriously? Friday night?! Ugh!

On another note, I was watching the top 50 country videos of the 2011 year. "Red Solo Cup" made the cut. Really? Now, I'll admit the song and video are kinda cute, but there weren't 50 videos better than that this year? That makes for a sad year in music. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, here's a link.

I got a kick out of my neighbor the other night. His daughter got a dog that looks something like this...
Source
She's probably 3 or 4 pounds of little "yip yip." I think Bailey is convinced she's a squirrel or something because she acts like she wants to kill her ever time we see her outside. Anywaaaaaaayyyy... I see the big, tough guy neighbor outside with the puppy in the yard one night trying to get her to come back inside. He keeps going, "Hey!.. Come here!" I just had to laugh because I knew he was doing everything he could NOT to call this dog by her name, and I said as much to him. The reason being... The dog has the unlucky honor of being named Sparkles! Now why would anyone let their daughter do that to the poor dog? I mean, I'm not a teeny dog type of person, but even I know that is just asking for the dog to get her ass kicked at the dog park.

So of course, I had to point it out to him.

Me (chuckling): You just can't bring yourself to call that dog by her name, can you?
Tough neighbor guy: (nervous chuckle) Uhhh... Yeah. If she would just listen...
Me: Well, either change her name or get used to her not listening. Because if you don't use her name, she's never going to mind you.
Tough neighbor guy: (miserable look on his face as he looks down at the dog) Yeah, I guess you're right.
Me: So you'd rather her just not listen, right?
Tough neighbor guy: Something like that..

We both laughed and went back inside. I don't blame him. I don't think I could call the little thing Sparkles either!

So is it drink thirty yet? I've had so much fun coming back to the bloggy world this week. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Step out of the vehicle please!

You should not be allowed to drive a big freakin' truck if you can't park the damn thing!
