You don't know what HAWT is!

I know many of you who live up north or in other countries get tired of hearing us southerners when you are suffering during the snowy and icy winters you get. Our winters are pretty great, but our summers... Well, let's just say, our summers are not picture perfect like this...
Source
Instead we feel more like this for much of the year...
Except you wouldn't catch me with anything on my feet unless I have to have them, and then it's usually flip flops or sandals of some kind. And we won't even discuss a bikini, but you know what I mean!

Funny that I really couldn't find a perfectly happy looking couple on the beach under the "perfect summer" search of images. Ha! See, it's too freaking hot EVERYWHERE! And who wants to take pictures of themselves dying of a heat stroke on the beach? They'd rather be doing this...

Or even this...

I'll admit I have left the freezer or fridge door open longer than normal in the summer just because I want to feel the cool air that is like none you can ever get from the AC. Bailey has her own kiddie pool for when we dare to go outside. I want to get some sun on my white self, but who can stand it? And it's only the middle of JULY! I don't even want to think about what August is going to feel like. We just won't even be able to breathe then.

Not to mention, we are in the first stages of a drought because the rain has totally abandoned us. We got a little last week for the first time since... God, I don't even remember when. The ground soaked it all up like no water had even fallen just shortly after it stopped. We have seriously been talking about doing rain dances. Know any good ones?

So as much as many of you whine about your horrible winters, I thought it was only right to give you a Taste of Summer... Southern Style. If you don't hear from us during the summer months, how about send us some of that melted snow?!

I agree with you. I wrote a post about this same issue a month ago.

Here, we just switched from dry season to rainy. I can safely say I won't miss the heat. Even though it does tend to make some unwanted appearances every now & then. Like this past weekend. Me & my wife were out doing errands & spent the rest of the day passed out from heat exhaustion.

I think I'm gonna have to cave and get an a/c for the window...I just can't stand getting out of the shower and sweating purely from toweling off!

I spent a summer in Florida. Dude, I'll take CA's triple digit oppressive heat to that wall of water heat they've got goin' on down there. I don't know how people live in the topics because you know it's worse!

Our first summer here I thought how bad could it be. CT gets in the 90's too. But there is no comparison to the humidity and heat indexes here. It is sweltering isn't it? Need rain!!!

We just burrow deeper into our igloos.

I don't miss the South at all. This has been the most delightful summer, maybe ever in my life. It is finally getting warm up here in 'taterville' (Idaho) but low 90s minus humidity? I'll take it. And we don't even have central air.

I know that I will pay for my gloating when the great north winds blow and we're buried in snow and ice up to our eyeballs, but for now.....*delightful*

Winters in Alabama are usually mild, but if it turns colder I can always just add another layer of clothing. In the heat and humidity of Summer, once I've stripped down to my birthday suit I jump in my pool as a last resort.

OT.. It's crazy isn't it? The map on the news this morning showing how many of us are in a drought is crazy!

Vinny.. That kind of heat is just unbearable.

Al.. Say it ain't so!

CBG.. That is a common thing down here, but AC is not optional. It's just a matter of how low we are willing to set it.

J.Day.. Amen to that! I moved here from New Mexico, and I'd take that heat over ours ANYTIME.

Amber.. Grocery shopping isn't too bad although I find myself in the freezer section longer than normal. LOL Carrying the groceries in can be horrible though.

Rob.. I'm sure! I found it funny that a lot more guys commented this time (including the very first 3) which means that picture got your attention. :)

Barb.. I know what you mean. Moving here from New Mexico in August, we all thought we would die!

Thorn.. I'd kill for an igloo right now, and just let it melt over me!

Tory.. I'm liking you a bit less right now, but I'm sure you'll hate me come winter. Enjoy it while you can!

Don.. I wish I had a pool!
